Thai Hand and Foot (and legs) Massage - Two-day Workshop
The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to massage of the feet, hands and legs in a tradition that originated in Thailand about 2000 years ago. The feet, hands and, indeed the ears too, are claimed by ancient wisdom to be entire maps of your body. Reflexologists claim that massage of these extremities works on energy points aligned to organs and structures in the body. By working on these points of blocked energy, it is said one can improve the well-being of the relevant body part.
The course is aimed at students who have no prior knowledge of massage as well as qualified therapists who want to add to their massage skills. It incorporates a brief introduction to Thai massage of the legs.
What you will learn:
- Basic history of foot massage
- Basic anatomy of the foot, hand and leg
- Benefits of Thai foot and hand massage
- Contra-indications to foot, hand and leg massage
- Thai massage techniques for the foot
- Thai massage techniques for the hands
- Thai massage techniques and stretches for the legs
- Techniques using a Thai foot massage tool - working the points
- Wake up techniques for the legs and feet
You will give and receive massage of the foot, legs and hands. Demonstrations and massage practice will be done on the floor, on massage tables and on chairs. The course is very 'hands-on' with most of it being practical learning.
Class size will be small to ensure individualised attention.
There will be class handouts of the techniques you learn as well as other pertinent information. You will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the two days.
The course will not equip you to become a Thai Massage Therapist, or a Reflexologist. There is to be a Diploma Course for that. However, it will equip you to give leg, feet and hand massages to friends and family. It will also equip qualified massage therapists with yet another tool to incorporate in their massage work with clients.
