Aromatherapy Basics - 1-day Workshop

Have you ever wondered just what is Aromatherapy? How does it work? What does it do?  If you have, then this course is for you.

Sandra’s modern definition of Aromatherapy is:

“Aromatherapy is a professional discipline in complementary health which makes use of aromatic plant essences (called essential oils), to improve the well-being of the body and the mind.”

The absorption of the essential essences into the bloodstream is best achieved by massage, but there are various other methods of use of the essences. e.g. in the bath.

However, essential oils are very powerful chemical substances and one really needs to know what one is doing with them!

The aim of this Aromatherapy Basics workshop is to introduce you to Aromatherapy and give you a background on choosing and using oils and how to use them effectively in the home and with minor family ailments.

The course will not equip you to become an Aromatherapist. There is a Diploma Course for that. However, it will make you more aware as you go into a Health Shop and buy essential oils to use at home, what you are buying and how to safely use the oils for yourself and your family.

What you will learn on the day:

  • Basic History of ‘Aromatherapie’
  • How the essences are obtained
  • How the essences are used
  • Aroma ‘notes’
  • 6 basic essential oils - their properties and uses
  • Safety of essential oils
  • How to give a hand massage using aromatic essences in base oil

All of this learning is done in a fun, interactive way. Be prepared to use your olfactory senses extensively, as well as your brain cells and creative mind!

Class sizes are small to provide individualised attention.

Consumables such as oils for massage, massage tables, tea and coffee as well as notes on what you will learn will be provided. A certificate of attendance will be handed out.
